Paris Olympics: Hughes Ngouelondele, the Sports Ministers of Congo Brazzaville Goes For Tourism, not for the win

While other nations packed their best athletes to represent their respective flags at the 2024 Olympic games in Paris, Hughes Ngouelondele, the Congolese Minister of Sports, who is also the Congolese dictator’s son-in-law made up a list of 24 people, including only four athletes, three coaches, and one paramedic. The remaining 16 people have nothing to do with sports per se.

Although some of them are somewhat important, such as those from the National Olympic Committee, including nine of them on the list of those who should go to Paris was just a waste of taxpayers’ money.

At the top of the list is Mr. Ngouelondele, accompanied by his son, who has nothing to do with the Olympics or sports in General. As a reminder, Ngouelondele’s son is Denis Sassou Nguesso’s grandson because his mother is the latter’s daughter. Raymond Ibata, the President of the National Olympic Committee (CNO), is accompanied by his wife. So is Jean Paul Ngaloula, Secretary General of CNO.

Mission order signed by Hughes Ngouelondele including the wives of his collaborators and his son.

Transport and accommodation costs for the 24 people included on the list are the responsibility of the state budget, according to the mission order signed by Ngouelondele. Some Congolese folks have wondered what mission Ngaloula’s and Ibata’s wives are going to fulfill in Paris. This is the chaos that Sassou Ngesso and his ministers have plunged the country into. Millions of dollars wasted on private trips and personal tourism. Instead of holding this type of inconsiderate folks accountable, they arrest and incarcerate peaceful protesters.

“Some of them invited their wives to public missions,” said Jerome Ondala through a Facebook page. “They could have applied for visas on behalf of their wifes with the lots money they usually steal from state coffers,” he pursued.

Fernand Bouka, another fed up citizen, wrote: “Understand that this is a tourist trip. But we have the right to laugh a little and ask ourselves the question of whether we needed to mobilize so many people for four athletes who will have no chance of obataining even a wooden medal.”

That’s how chaotic is the management of the country by a group of folks who have held power for nearly forty years now. They incarcerate innocents and commit financial and other crimes with impunity.
