On Thursday, a twenty-one-year-old member of the Massachusetts Air National Guard was arrested for the alleged leaking of classified documents.
jack Teixeira was promptly taken into custody after a week long of intensive investigation by the FBI into the national security breach.
The native of Massachusetts is set to appeared in U.S District court soon, said U.S Attorney General, Merrick Garland.
Teixeira was the airman first class at the 102nd Intelligence Wing headquartered at Otis National Guard Base on Cape God. According to U.S officials Teixeira reportedly leaked hundreds of pages of highly classified documents about Russian ongoing war in Ukraine and potential spying on allies.
The documents were allegedly shared in an online gaming group last month, and Teixeira appeared to be the leader of the infamous platform referred to as “Discord”. He was initially identified as O.G until the FBI revealed his identity.
The breaking point of the investigation came after the Washington Post first reported about “Discord” and the possibility that the leaker was working at a military base and shared sensitive national security documents with a group of friends on the social platform.
