Less than three weeks after the Nashville School shooting that left three children and three adults dead, another one in Louisville, Kentucky just claimed the lives of five bank employees.
On April 10, 2023, Connor James Sturgeon, a 25-year-old employee of the Old National Bank of Louisville went on a killing spree which left five of his co-workers dead and eight other people injured and a responding rookie police officer in critical condition.
Sturgeon who legally bought the AR-15 rifle six days before the shooting, headed to the bank when his co-workers were having a virtual meeting. He went into the meeting room and started shooting.
Prior to the shooting, Sturgeon has reportedly left a note to his family about his intentions to shoot people at the bank. His mother who was suspicious of his violent intentions notified the police by calling 911.
Sturgeon was allegedly warned by the bank that he was going to get fired. A warning that has probably triggered his reckless act.
According to his family as well his bank sturgeon was not known to be a violent person. Although a source confirmed that he was being treated for depression and anxiety, he had no known history of anger.
With this new incident and the Nashville mass shooting just weeks apart, the pressure is now on the congress which has proved reluctant when it comes to enacting strict gun control laws.
If Sturgeon or any other mass shooter could easily purchase a firearm to commit atrocities the way the did it is because the Congress has been lethargic towards implementing serious gun control laws. Or is it because the majority of them earned their congress seats with support of Gun Industry Moguls and therefore care less about the people including innocent children and senior citizens who are repeatedly targeted.
According Fox News, there have been over 140 mass shooting so far in the United States in only four months through 2023, with dozens killed in cold blood.
